Race 1 of the 2026 WCKC Championships gave us the full West Coast welcome.
Friday showed up sunny and fast. Saturday stayed mostly bright and promising. And then race day arrived… with rain. All day. The kind of rain that turns every braking zone into a question mark and every apex into a negotiation. The track was slick, visibility was tough, and consistency became the real currency of the weekend.

Despite the conditions, the event was stacked: 111 entries from BC, Alberta, Washington, and Portland. The paddock was busy, the competition was deep, and every position had to be earned.
For EDX Racing Team, this weekend was a big milestone — our first race weekend of the season with many new team members joining the program, alongside returning faces who were back in the tent and ready to go. The energy was high, the learning curve was real, and the team gelled more with every session.
One notable absence: Teagan, our premier junior driver, missed this round due to spring break travel — but we’ll be ready to roll when he’s back.
Now to the results:
Patrick returned and took on two classes: Shifter and Briggs Masters — and delivered one of the strongest overall performances of the weekend.
In Shifter, Patrick was on it from the start:
Qualified P1 (Pole)
Pre-race: P1
Final: P1
That’s the kind of weekend that doesn’t happen by accident — especially in the wet. Smooth inputs, smart decisions, and total control.
In Briggs Masters, the weekend threw him a curveball. A spin in qualifying, followed by contact from a new driver, sent him to the back of the field for the pre-race. But Patrick did what experienced racers do: he reset, stayed patient, and drove forward.
Pre-race: started at the back → finished P7
Final: finished P5
An excellent weekend — pace, composure, and big points earned.
Laina’s weekend was full of trials and tribulations as she also ran two classes: TaG Senior and Briggs Senior.
In TaG Senior, she qualified P14, but the pre-final ended early after she was hit and sustained a rib injury— cutting her weekend short. In Briggs Senior, she qualified P10 in a large, competitive field. The pre-final was tough and she slipped to P13, and unfortunately she did not start for the final.
That’s racing sometimes: you can do a lot right and still get dealt a tough hand. But if there’s one thing we know about Laina, it’s this: she’s strong, she’s focused, and she’ll be back next race looking for redemption.
Also in TaG, our new driver Cash Coogan jumped into his first race weekend and handled it like a pro.
Qualified P17
Pre-race: P21
Final: P12
In rain like that, finishing is an accomplishment — moving forward that much is even better. Fantastic first weekend, and a strong foundation to build on.
Devon returned from winter break and focused on rebuilding pace in some of the most difficult conditions you can get. Has never driven on LeVanto wet tires before qualifying session and it was a large learning curve! In the final session, he had top 5 position, but dropped back due to spin to P13.
Qualified P18
Pre-race: P14
Final: P13
That’s solid forward progress in a slippery, unpredictable race day. He’ll come back stronger next round.
In TaG Masters, Sean had a weekend that tested his resolve — he had a crash on Saturday bending his frame, and instantly putting him on the back foot for the weekend. This was also his first race in the rain, but he responded with steady improvement and learning!
Qualified P11
Pre-race: P8
Final: P10
A top 10 in a demanding field, in the wet, is something to be proud of.
Our young drivers delivered some of the most exciting moments of the weekend.
Andrew, in TaG Junior — and made an immediate impact. This was his first race weekend in TaG Junior, also a new team member with EDX Racing team . This weekend was also his birthday - what a way to kick off 2026 racing campaign!
First-ever qualifying: P5
Pre-race: P9
Final: P4 (right on the edge of the podium)
That’s an epic result, especially in the rain. Huge credit to Andrew for staying composed and fighting all the way to the flag.
Jack is back and continuing to build momentum and confidence. This was his first weekend in TaG Junior as well, and he only had few days to test and prepare. He did so well!
Qualified P10
Pre-race: P6 (best finish yet)
Final: P8
Progress like that is exactly what we want to see — and he’s only getting stronger.
Overall, Race 1 was a success. New drivers, new chassis, and a growing team came together under some of the most challenging conditions we’ll see all season — and everyone took a step forward.
We’re proud of the effort, proud of the growth, and hungry for what’s next. We’ll come back stronger, cleaner, and ready to fight for podiums.
