West Coast Kart Club Championship | Race 5

EDX returned to the West Coast Kart Club Championship for Race 5 with Cash Coogan, Patrick Kleine, Teagan Kleine, Shawn Caspar, and Andrew Bench representing the team across TaG Senior, Shifter, LO206 Junior, TaG Junior, and TaG Masters.

It was another strong WCKC weekend for the team, with podiums, class battles, development mileage, and some proper edge-of-your-seat racing. The biggest headline came from Andrew Bench, who delivered a standout TaG Junior performance with a Pre-Final win and a P2 finish in the Final, missing the win by just 0.087 seconds.

Patrick Kleine also added another podium-level result for EDX in Shifter, finishing P3 in the Final. Teagan Kleine had a busy double-class weekend, racing both LO206 Junior and TaG Junior, while Shawn Caspar continued building in TaG Masters and Cash Coogan gained more valuable mileage in the quick TaG Senior field.

Race 5 gave EDX exactly what a mid-season club round should: strong points, useful lessons, and more momentum heading deeper into the championship.

Weekend Highlights

The team’s strongest headline belonged to Andrew Bench in TaG Junior. Andrew qualified P4, then turned that into a major statement by winning the TaG Junior Pre-Final. In the Final, he fought right to the line and finished P2, only 0.087 seconds behind race winner Mateo Pai. That is about as close as racing gets — and a huge result for Andrew and the team.

Patrick Kleine delivered another strong Shifter result, finishing P3 in the Final. After qualifying P4 in the Shifter points results, Patrick had a difficult Pre-Final that left him with only one completed lap, but he bounced back well in the Final and brought home a podium finish.

Teagan Kleine pulled double duty again, competing in both LO206 Junior and TaG Junior. In LO206 Junior, Teagan qualified P7, improved to P4 in the Pre-Final, and finished P5 in the Final, just off the front group. In TaG Junior, he qualified P8, finished P7 in the Pre-Final, and moved up to P6 in the Final.

Shawn Caspar continued his development in TaG Masters, qualifying P8, finishing P7 in the Pre-Final, and bringing home a P6 finish in the Final. It was a steady weekend and another step forward in a competitive Masters field.

Cash Coogan took on the fast and experienced TaG Senior grid. Cash qualified P11, moved up to P9 in the Pre-Final, and finished P10 in the Final, completing all 13 laps and continuing to build experience in one of the toughest fields on the WCKC schedule.

Driver Reports

Andrew Bench

TaG Junior

Andrew Bench delivered the top EDX performance of the weekend in TaG Junior.

Andrew started the day with a strong qualifying run, placing P4 with a best lap of 51.959. The front of the field was tight, and Andrew was only 0.130 seconds off the fastest qualifying time.

From there, he made the weekend his own. In the TaG Junior Pre-Final, Andrew took the win, finishing ahead of Leon Chmielewski and Mateo Pai. His best lap was 52.357, and the result put him on the front row mindset heading into the Final.

The Final was a thriller. Andrew finished P2, just 0.087 seconds behind Mateo Pai after 10 laps. His best lap was 52.472, and he stayed right in the fight all the way to the flag.

Patrick Kleine continued his strong WCKC Shifter campaign with another podium result.

Patrick was listed P4 in the Shifter qualifying points results, with a best lap of 54.793. The Pre-Final was a tough one, with Patrick only completing one lap and being classified lower in the combined result. But he reset well for the Final.

In the Shifter Final, Patrick finished P3, completing all 12 laps and setting a best lap of 54.869. It was a strong recovery from the Pre-Final and another important points finish in the Shifter championship picture.

Cash qualified P11 with a best lap of 53.074. In the Pre-Final, he improved to P9, completing all 11 laps and setting a best lap of 53.289.

In the TaG Senior Final, Cash finished P10, completing all 13 laps with a best lap of 53.220. The pace at the front of TaG Senior was strong, but Cash kept putting in laps, gaining race experience, and continuing to build comfort in senior competition.
