WCKC Double-Header Weekend

EDX returned to West Coast Kart Club for another busy double-header weekend, with Race 6 and Race 7 bringing two full days of competition, tight grids, and plenty of team highlights.

Representing EDX across the weekend were Patrick Kleine, Teagan Kleine, Andrew Bench, Jack Harbidge, Jack Eriksson, and Cash Coogan. The team competed across LO206 Heavy, Shifter, LO206 Junior, TaG Junior, LO206 Senior, and TaG Senior, making it another full-scale weekend for the EDX paddock. This was a weekend with wins, podiums, penalties, technical setbacks, and plenty of race experience — exactly the kind of mid-season double-header that tests the whole team.

Ahead of the event, the team held its annual camp with Oliver Hodgson, a highly accomplished karting driver and coach whose résumé includes being a Rotax World ChampionIAME Karting World Finals Champion, and British Karting Champion. Having Oliver work with the team brought another level of insight, structure, and race preparation to the weekend.

Oliver also stayed with the team through the double-header, supporting the drivers with coaching, feedback, and guidance across the race weekend. His experience was a valuable addition in the paddock, helping the drivers continue to sharpen their race craft, understand the details, and keep pushing forward in competitive conditions.

The weekend also marked the arrival of EDX’s new Gatel team tent, which will now become part of the team setup for upcoming races. The new tent gives the team a stronger and more professional paddock presence, creating a better base for drivers, mechanics, families, and supporters throughout race weekends.

Between the annual camp, Oliver’s coaching support, and the arrival of the new Gatel tent, Race 6 & 7 represented more than just another double-header. It was another step forward in building the full EDX team environment — organized, professional, connected, and ready for the second half of the season.

Weekend Team Highlights

The biggest EDX story of the weekend was Andrew Bench in TaG Junior. On Saturday, Andrew qualified P2, won the Pre-Final, and then won the Final while also setting the fastest lap of the race. On Sunday, he went one better in qualifying by taking P1, then won the Pre-Final and the Final, again collecting fastest-lap honours along the way. That is a huge weekend: two Finals, two wins, and a serious statement in TaG Junior.

Teagan Kleine had a strong weekend in LO206 Junior. On Saturday, he moved from P7 in qualifying to P5 in the Pre-Final before finishing P2 in the Final. On Sunday, he qualified P2 and finished P3 in the Final, giving him two LO206 Junior podium results across the double-header.

Patrick Kleine delivered one of the team’s strongest results on Saturday with P2 in the LO206 Heavy Final. He also competed in Shifter across both days, continuing to collect valuable laps in one of the fastest and most demanding classes on the WCKC schedule.

Jack Harbidge had a steady Saturday in TaG Junior, qualifying inside the top ten and finishing P7 in the Final. Sunday brought more pace, including P6 in qualifying and P6 in the Pre-Final, before a post-race technical issue ended the Final result.

Jack Eriksson continued to build in the deep LO206 Senior field, while Cash Coogan stayed committed to his TaG Senior development, completing both race weekends and gaining more experience in one of the toughest categories on the grid.

Driver Reports

Andrew Bench

TaG Junior

Andrew Bench was the standout EDX driver of the weekend and one of the standout performers of the entire TaG Junior field.

On Saturday in Race 6, Andrew qualified P2 with a best lap of 52.098, just 0.126 seconds off the top time. From there, he took control of the day. In the TaG Junior Pre-Final, Andrew finished P1, setting himself up perfectly for the Final.

He then delivered in the Race 6 Final, taking the win and setting the fastest lap of the race with a 52.036. It was a complete performance: speed, execution, and control when it mattered most.

Sunday’s Race 7 was even stronger. Andrew qualified P1 with a 52.061 and was credited with the fastest lap in qualifying. He then won the TaG Junior Pre-Final, again earning fastest lap with a 52.225. In the Final, Andrew completed the sweep, taking another P1 finish and another fastest lap, this time with a 52.341.

Andrew’s double-header was about as strong as it gets. He was fast over one lap, fast in traffic, and fast when the race was on the line. Two Final wins across the weekend is a huge result for Andrew and a major highlight for EDX.

Teagan Kleine

LO206 Junior and TaG Junior

Teagan Kleine had another busy double-class weekend, competing in both LO206 Junior and TaG Junior.

In Race 6 LO206 Junior, Teagan qualified P7 with a best lap of 1:02.429. He improved in the Pre-Final, finishing P5 and lowering his best lap to 1:00.980. In the Final, Teagan put together one of his strongest WCKC results of the season, finishing P2 and completing all 13 laps with a best lap of 1:00.635. He finished only 0.699 seconds behind the winner.

On Sunday in Race 7, Teagan was immediately stronger in LO206 Junior qualifying, placing P2 with a best lap of 1:00.848. He finished P5 in the Pre-Final, then bounced back in the Final with another podium, finishing P3 and only 0.614 seconds off the win. It was a strong LO206 Junior double-header: P2 on Saturday, P3 on Sunday.

Teagan also competed in TaG Junior. On Saturday, he qualified P5, but the Pre-Final ended without completed laps. He recovered to finish P8 in the Final, completing all 15 laps. On Sunday, Teagan showed strong pace in TaG Junior qualifying, placing P3, then finished P3 in the Pre-Final. The Sunday Final unfortunately ended with a post-race disqualification for not scaling due to a race incident, but his on-track pace through qualifying and the Pre-Final was another strong sign of progress.

Teagan’s weekend showed speed and resilience. The LO206 Junior results were excellent, with two podiums across the double-header. The TaG Junior side brought more mixed results, but the pace was there — especially on Sunday, where he qualified and finished the Pre-Final in the top three.

Patrick Kleine

LO206 Heavy and Shifter

Patrick Kleine had a busy double-header, competing in both LO206 Heavy and Shifter.

The strongest moment of Patrick’s weekend came Saturday in the Race 6 LO206 Heavy Final. Patrick finished P2, completing all 15 laps and bringing home a strong podium result for EDX. His best lap was 1:01.957, and he finished ahead of several experienced LO206 Heavy competitors in a tight group behind the winner.

Patrick also competed in Shifter on Saturday, finishing P7 in the Pre-Final and P8 in the Final. It was a demanding day across two very different classes, with LO206 Heavy rewarding precision and patience, while Shifter demanded outright speed and commitment.

On Sunday in Race 7, Patrick qualified P6 in LO206 Heavy, finished P7 in the Pre-Final, and moved forward to P5 in the Final. That gave him another solid top-five result in the Heavy field. In Shifter, he qualified P8, finished P6 in the Pre-Final, and completed the Final in P8.

Patrick’s weekend had a clear highlight: the Race 6 LO206 Heavy podium. A P2 finish in that field is a strong result, and Sunday’s P5 showed continued front-half pace. Across Shifter, he kept logging laps and staying in the championship fight in one of the quickest classes on the schedule.

Jack Harbidge

TaG Junior

Jack Harbidge continued his development in TaG Junior and had a solid Saturday result in Race 6.

On Saturday, Jack qualified P9 after a best-lap deletion, then finished P9 in the Pre-Final. In the Final, he moved forward to P7 and completed all 15 laps with a best lap of 52.623. That was a solid full-distance finish in a strong junior field.

Sunday started well for Jack. He qualified P6 with a best lap of 52.625 and followed that with P6 in the Pre-Final, showing excellent pace and consistency in the middle of the TaG Junior field. The Sunday Final ended with a disqualification for not scaling due to in race incident, which was a frustrating finish after a promising start to the day.

Jack’s weekend showed progress. Saturday gave him a clean P7 Final result, and Sunday showed better pace through qualifying and the Pre-Final. The Final outcome was frustrating, but the development trend is positive.

Jack Eriksson

LO206 Senior

Jack Eriksson took on LO206 Senior, one of the largest and most competitive fields of the weekend.

On Saturday in Race 6, Jack qualified in the lower half of the LO206 Senior field, then finished P18 in the Pre-Final after receiving a penalty. The Final ended early, with Jack not completing the race distance.

Sunday gave Jack a cleaner race day. He qualified P18, finished P17 in the Pre-Final, and then moved forward to P15 in the Final. His best lap in the Sunday Final was 1:01.496, and he completed all 13 laps.

Jack’s weekend was about continuing to build in a crowded senior field. Sunday was the stronger day, with a full-distance Final and forward movement from qualifying through the race. Those are the kinds of weekends that keep adding experience and confidence.

Cash Coogan

TaG Senior

Cash Coogan continued building his TaG Senior experience across both races.

On Saturday in Race 6, Cash qualified P15 with a best lap of 53.309. In the Pre-Final, he finished P14 with a best lap of 52.850, then completed the Final in P15 with a best lap of 53.181.

On Sunday in Race 7, Cash again qualified P15, setting a best lap of 53.930. He finished P14 in the Pre-Final, then improved to P11 in the Final, completing all 15 laps with a best lap of 52.912. That Sunday Final was his best result of the weekend and a good step forward in the TaG Senior field.
